  As a first generation female in the United States(US) I was not expected to graduate college.  I was expected to become a stay at home mom or attend a trade school. This mindset stuck to me. After high school I went to college to be certified as a Dental assistant. However, after my first day of class I knew that dental assisting was not the career for me. I did not like having to deal with body fluids. After that day I changed my mindset. I now had the mindset that I had to succeed to be happy. What equaled happiness to me was to be able to provide for my parents. They have given me so many opportunities by moving to the US  and I need to show them that their effort was not in vain. I took it upon  myself to dedicate my studies to a high paying career. I transferred my credits to ASU and began my path to joining the movement of women in Science,  Technology , Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). In college I studied Applied Computing....

First Experience Working on group programing projects was my number one college experience that translates into my employers desired experience. Working on these group projects demonstrates teamwork skills, technical skills, and  time management skills. These are skills highly desired in the tech industry and I am proud of my contribution in the group work. Second Experience In college I had personal projects I created from what I learned in college. I have created several websites using skills such as using HTTP, CSS, Adobe Acrobat DC, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. These project are awesome because the display my skills in the a portfolio. My portfolio is something all employers look into to select there future employers. Business Intelligence Analyst My degree is a BS in computer science with a minor in Business. When I decided to minor in business I had no idea that employers do not care about what you minored in. Everyone wants real life experience.  Still my dream job is to be a Business Intelligence Analyst. I am interested in analysis from my computing degree and business from my minor. I really wanted to hold a career in which I could use both skills in one field. I started researching jobs I could possibly obtain after graduation that included both aspects.  That is when Business Intelligence Analyst came up in my search engine. It sounded like a perfect fit with a livable wage.   Thus that became my dream job. To reach my goal I plan to start at the bottom and grow my way up the ladder.   Currently my online presence is rather small and unimpactful. I only have a couple of social media accounts and unfortunately I can't say that I am proud of the accounts. Social media to me is very intimidating because I feel like you have to put yourself out there a lot in order to gain a following or maintain peoples interest. I am insecure about my post being boring or not getting any engagement. In the future I hope to be more confident in the content I put out into the world. Or to at least post more than I currently am now. At this time, I only post on 3 platforms. I post on Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn. I would like to expand my LinkedIn presence but I feel like I am in a rut at the moment. I need to post more on that platform to be able to network. I am graduating soon and have no jobs lined up. Social networking might make finding a job easier.

                                                                    My online presence is minimal. I have an Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. However I am not very active on these platforms. Therefore, they are not up to date. I would like to change that and have a social media platform I am proud of. I don’t think I can do this with all my platforms so I would like to focus on my Instagram and LinkedIn. The reason I chose these two is because I think it would be the perfect balance of having a person and professional platform.  1. My professional goal this year is to be hired to a job in my field. My goal in 5 years is to be at my forever job that makes me happy to go to work. In 10 years I hope to be in a management position in the IT or business field. By accomplishing these goals I will be able to allow my parents to retire their current labor inducing jobs. I will accomplish these goals by aiming for success  and not letting fear get in the way of new and better opportunities. Hopefully it will make it possible for more woman of color to strive in the STEM community. 2. Societal challenges I face with is being underpaid because I am a woman. In ten years I hope the pay gap no longer exist. Twenty years in the future woman will no longer be shy or under minded in STEM and be paid as equals. I think this problem will be addressed by woman empowering other woman. If we stay united we can make the pay gap minimal. 3. My life partner makes me optimistic. He empowers me to try anything and everything....

  1.  What did you know about your field 3 years ago, and what have you learned about that has 'wowed' you? (Supplemental questions: What did you used to think was an advanced topic in your subject, and what do you think is now? What was the experience that you feel you learned the most from?) What I knew about my field 3 years ago was not much. I picked my field in applied computing knowing it payed well and had various job opportunities. Now, three years later I know how to code, 4 program languages and that it is a very competitive field I am in. The experience that has taught me the most is learning different programming languages because I learned that there is not just one way to get things done.  2. What do you want to learn about over the next 3 years? (Is it scientific or personal? Why do you want to learn it? How do you plan on developing this knowledge?)
