Home Stretch

 1. My professional goal this year is to be hired to a job in my field. My goal in 5 years is to be at my forever job that makes me happy to go to work. In 10 years I hope to be in a management position in the IT or business field. By accomplishing these goals I will be able to allow my parents to retire their current labor inducing jobs. I will accomplish these goals by aiming for success  and not letting fear get in the way of new and better opportunities. Hopefully it will make it possible for more woman of color to strive in the STEM community.

2. Societal challenges I face with is being underpaid because I am a woman. In ten years I hope the pay gap no longer exist. Twenty years in the future woman will no longer be shy or under minded in STEM and be paid as equals. I think this problem will be addressed by woman empowering other woman. If we stay united we can make the pay gap minimal.

3. My life partner makes me optimistic. He empowers me to try anything and everything. He calms me down when I am stress and reassures me that I can do anything. He is also an example of having faith, love, and happiness. I cannot explain it, but when he loves me I feel so light and like the world is slowly moving to give us time to take the moment in. He is what keeps me optimistic and I love him for that.

Woman Daring Greatly      Daring Greatly has inspired a new way of thinking for me. Before I was really afraid to be vulnerable, especially as a woman of color in technology. I was vulnerable as a chance to fail and look like a dummy. After reading the book I see vulnerability in a new light. Vulnerability is an emotional risk that takes courage not shame. Out of being vulnerable one can find innovations, creativity, and change. There's nothing stronger than daring greatly to fail. I now want to inspire others to take risks and persist in a career in STEM despite stereotypes. The only way to stay down is to not try.

1. My Hero I am grateful for my Dad. When he was seventeen years old, he wanted a better future for himself and his future family. So, not knowing any English or having any kind of education, he crossed the border from Mexico into the United States. He was able to get a worker’s visa and a job as a cook in a small restaurant. He would travel back and forth between the two countries to keep in contact with his family. When he was twenty-two years old, he fell in love with my mom and my oldest sister was born in Mexico. After my sister turned one my dad decided to bring my mother and sister to America and live there full time. They lived in Idaho for a year and then had my second sister. Another year went by and I was also born in Idaho. Six months after I was born my father was offered a work opportunity in Arizona. We moved to Arizona and my dad began his new job in welding. My College Experience

First Experience Working on group programing projects was my number one college experience that translates into my employers desired experience. Working on these group projects demonstrates teamwork skills, technical skills, and  time management skills. These are skills highly desired in the tech industry and I am proud of my contribution in the group work. Second Experience In college I had personal projects I created from what I learned in college. I have created several websites using skills such as using HTTP, CSS, Adobe Acrobat DC, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. These project are awesome because the display my skills in the a portfolio. My portfolio is something all employers look into to select there future employers.
